Chargent Best Practices

  • Install both the Chargent Base package and the Chargent Orders package.  
  • Chargent is only provisioned to those licensed so only those assigned will see the Chargent Object and fields
  • Gateway Setup - Make sure all Record Types are available
  • Gateway Production - Make sure the "Test Endpoint" is unchecked for live transactions

Using Chargent:
  • Recurring Billing - Make sure to create the batch job and update the necessary fields (Payment Status = Recurring, Payment Start Date, and Payment Frequency)
  • Recurring Billing - Make sure batch is set to daily and the end date is scheduled far out in the future
  • Importing Data - Make sure you import in small batches and test in your Sandbox account first.  
  • Payment Requests (if you purchased this option)- Make sure the Site in the Chargent Settings matches the Site you setup in Salesforce Sites

Updating Chargent:
  • Always update in your Sandbox in order to prevent the manipulation of live data
  • Always test the upgrade to make sure it doesn't break any Workflow Rules or Processes
