User Authentication Failed

If you receive a message containing "User Authentication Failed" when setting up a payment gateway in Chargent and running a test transaction, this means 1 of 2 things:

  1. The credentials entered in the Gateway record in Salesforce are incorrect

    1. They may be the wrong or expired credentials

    2. They may be entered in the incorrect fields

    3. They may be only partially entered (all gateways require 2-4 fields to be populated with credentials)

  2. The credentials in the Gateway record are correct, but are going to the wrong server

    1. You may have "Test Endpoint" checked in the gateway record when using live credentials

    2. You may have "Test Endpoint" unchecked in the gateway record when using test credentials

    3. If you are in a Salesforce Sandbox, note that Chargent always sends to the Test gateway as a precaution (regardless of whether "Test Endpoint" is checked)

      1. To override this setting, use the "Endpoint Override" field with the information provided in our Gateway setup page for your gateway
